The Truth

Currently wasting one of my four remaining chances to offer a thought provoking post to the Holidailies community. I do have an essay in progress but fear it is no where near ready. What am I bringing to the table instead? I offer the plain truth: I’ve been farming. Food for the hungry? No. More like a diversion for the empire (I admit with sincere shame). What’s the expression? The 21st Century Opiate of the Masses?

Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you Farmville. I have one imaginary bunny and (in my fantasy) she frolics with my imaginary lambs. Off screen are the kittens and inexplicably larger than life lollipops. When my grand nieces and nephews ask, “What did you do, Aunt Ruth, when the soldiers had been stop-lossed multiple times in wars on foriegn shores? How did you sleep at night? How did you help?” I will have no choice but to admit the truth. I farmed an imaginary farm.
