I woke up at 5:58 today feeling happy. Checked FB to see how my family’s doing. Don’t judge – it works for us. Status quo. Sam’s still recovering from the latest flare up, an unwilling patient at Children’s Hospital.
I turned to iTunes this time. She and I have a small overlap of music we both like. Think Ingrid Michaelson, Regina Spektor, pretty feminine poetic emo melodies featured on shows like Grey’s Anatomy or Gilmore Girls. I can just press two buttons, enter a password and in moments, Sam’s listening in the discomfort of her confinement.
On my way to iTunes, I caught sight of the Yahoo “News”. (Must change homepage!) I beat the temptation to click on a couple of headlines, thought briefly of all the people who play local news on televisions in their homes, felt a blend of contempt and pity and looked at the clock. 7:30 already. Hurry: must lift weights, water flowers, shower, dry cleaners – all before work. And Tuesday’s 200 Words! No topic yet, still.
7:53 now, It’s going to be January soon at this rate. Will Sam be in the hospital again? Will my plants survive? Will…?
