Tomorrow is Aunt Ruth’s birthday. There is talk that perhaps she’s holding on to the last bit of life to make an even age. I don’t know what age. It’s not that she tried to hide it; I’m just bad at remembering numerical details.
In my calendar, on the dates listing birthdays of nieces and nephews, I keep notes to track their ages. But I list other things, too. Like this:
Robert’s birthday – 2006 – 8 – gave $25 via Fed Ex; 2007 – 9 – sent a Lego toy via Fed Ex; 2008 – 10 – skateboard helmet
Once both age and gift are noted, I choose carefully from the drop-down menu, “Repeat: Every Year / End: Never”.
Oh, would that it could be so.
